Prof Dr Nina Silva

Ms Nina Silva is a biologist with a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, a Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology, and postdoctoral training in Ethnobotany. She has also received extensive formal training in Ayurveda through Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (AVP) and the Brazilian Association of Ayurveda (ABRA), strengthening her interdisciplinary background in plant sciences and traditional medical systems. She has been a Professor and Researcher at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) since 2011, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Pharmacobotany, Applied Botany, and Ethnobotany. She supervises graduate students in the Professional Master’s Program in Pharmaceutical Science and Technology at UFRJ and in the Postgraduate Program in Plant Biology at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). She coordinates the Laboratory of Applied Botany at UFRJ, leading research and extension projects focused on ethnobotany, medicinal plants, Ayurveda, and integrative and complementary health practices.
