Dr Yumna Mayet

Dr Yumna Mayet serves as a Council Member on the statutory regulatory body for health professions including Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Unani Medicine in South Africa. She serves as vice-chairperson of the Education Committee, has chaired the Communications Committee, and previously served on the Finance Committee and as an assessor and moderator for Professional Board Examinations administered by the council. Dr Mayet has extensive experience in health education. She has lectured in Unani Medicine, Public Health, and Psychology, contributed to curriculum development, and authored a chapter in a nationally prescribed Public Health textbook. She also served the South African Department of Higher Education and Training for a decade as a national assessor, moderator, and standardisation meeting chair. Dr Mayet runs a private practice in Cape Town and is committed to promoting understanding of traditional medicine and its enduring relevance to mental wellbeing and whole-person care in contemporary global health.
